It is trivially reproducible on Ubuntu 8.04. I've asked another
developer and they reached the same conclusion (which is obvious from
the JVM error) and they had decided to wait for the final release
before moving forward. The exact same code works fine on other
operating systems.

It's not an issue with the JVM, Qt Jambi 4.3 works on 7.10 but not on
8.04, although someone managed to find a way that worked for them. I
had hoped for a similar solution to enable Qt Jambi 4.4 on Ubuntu
8.04.
