Any docs on what's new in that scripting engine? I haven't heard about
it till now.

Hi,
Documentation will be part of the Qt 4.3 build when its integrated in
the 4.3 branch.

why it needs a new engine, that's all.

The only public statement we have so far is this:
http://www.trolltech.com/products/qt/lifecyclestatement/
and we also mentioned on DevDays last year that its ECMA-262 compatible
and a whole lot faster than the script engine used in QSA.
You'll get the details when its integrated.
