KDE 2.2 using Qt 3?
Message 1 in thread
I know that Qt 3.x isn't binary compatible with 2.x.
However, the documentation says it's mostly source
compatible. Has anyone managed to compile KDE using
the Qt 3 betas? Can it be done?

KDE-2.2 bases on Qt2.
Currently, the KDE folks are porting KDE to Qt3. Runtime behaviour and
the API is different in Qt3, although not on many code locations. That's
why the result is a new KDE3 which is binary incompatible with KDE2.
But some application sources compiles with KDE3/Qt3 as well as with
KDE2/Qt2 thanks to a few precompiler switches (#if (QT_VERSION <
300)...) - for instance KDevelop-2.0.1.
