RE: Editor preferences

Message 1 in thread

Well, tossing in my two cents, Visual SlickEdit offers "Projects" with
makefiles and projects VERY similar to Microsoft's, but runs on many
platforms (most if not all supported by Qt). I still use MSVC under windows
so I can use BoundsChecker and the debugger. It has FTP built in, so you
can "load" a file using the FTP protocol and save it likewise. It is one of
the FEW products where the cost to run on a multi-processor HP-UX system is
about the same as Linux and Windows.

I bought all of Parasoft's tools, which gets me away from MSVC, but I
haven't found a Windows debugger as good as MSVC. Anyone have any ideas?

I read a post that someone had compiled DDD for
windows using LessTif and XFRee86 for Windows. If you
can get this running, try DDD. Beats the hell out of
MSVC debugger if you can get used to it.

Should try it. It's a good way to stay fit. I've been riding almost exclusively at my contract location (on-site car blew up.)
The morning is a bit more beautiful, as I pass the traffic jams.

vi is like any power tool - you get out of it what you're willing to put into it. Keyboard proficiency helps.
