Versions of Qt

Message 1 in thread

Hi,

In an effort to help our sysadmins a bit, I've decided to install the qt
library for our faculty. However, I am a little bit puzzled as to which
versions to install: 1.x, 2.x and 3.x are (at least binary) incompatible,
and some applications might prefer to link against e.g. 2.x rather than
3.x.

I was wondering whether anyone has installed multiple qt libraries on one
site, and whether there are some things I should be wary of. Is it
reasonable to have all three versions? If so, how do I install them so
that users don't have to do any obscure magic to compile against either
version (we use epkg to administer packages)?

If this has been discussed before, I'd appreciate a pointer to the mail
archives.

TIA,
