I've used Intel C/C++ 5.0 on both Linux and Windows scientific problems and 
have seen a 25-40% execution time speedup, even more on Pentium 4 systems.

I've yet to try compiling Qt with it, though that's on my "to do" list.

P. S. - The Windows port of the Intel compiler isn't "free," but you can get 
a 30 day evaluation license.
