qt 4.2 slow on Mac OS X 10.4.8

Message 1 in thread

I have OS X 10.4.8 and the open source version of Qt 4.2. I'm not
sure if I installed it incorrectly or what but it is very slow. The
Qt Assistant, the Qt Designer and my own application are all very
sluggish. For instance I get the spinning color wheel for about 5-10
seconds when loading a page in the Qt Assistant. And in the designer
just to move a window a few inches on the screen takes about 10
seconds and is very jerky. Anyone have any ideas?

Qt IS very slow on Mac. It improved a lot from 4.0 to 4.2. hopefully they¹ll
get it up to Windows speed soon.

Sure, the mac port is a little slower than the windows port in some
regards, but I've never seen anything like what you're describing.
Designer and Assistant aren't even remotely sluggish on my Macbook Pro.

What kind of mac are you using? How did you configure Qt?

running it through rosetta could slow it down a bit, but again, not as
much as you are describing. It could be a combination of things. did
you build qt or did someone else build it for you?
