Dialog problem

Message 1 in thread

Hi,

When I try to open another dialog, the screen freezes..the mouse pointer can still be moved..but I can't click on anything....I just have to switch off the power and reboot...
If u think its a OS bug..do u think installing Linux again might solve anything....

  Thank u.

No. Here is what you should try:

Try to login into the machine remotely after X freezes -- to see whether
it's actually locked up or not.
If it's not, try to kill the program with kill -9 pid, or hit
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace (on the "frozen" computer) to kill the whole X session.

If it is -- look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/message for clues.
If it really does lock up, the problem may be with the graphics card
drivers, in which case reinstalling the same version of Linux probably
will not help you. Try to install something modern, I recommend openSUSE
10.2.

    Paul.
