Qt:How to: Get info about processes

Are there any third-party add-ons for Qt , that supports getting info
about currently running processes?
I need to once every second poll the system for which front (GUI) app
currently have user focus.
I need to do this on Linux, Windows, Mac OS X etc.
For mac OS X, there is the Carbon Process Manager, but that module is
not available on other systems.
For my purpose, an alternate option is if I can get a notification
each time the frontmost app changes,
which includes the name of the app.
