Keyboard not sending inputs to browser

HI!
I have compiled qtopia-core-opensource-src-4.4.0-beta1 for x86 on Ubuntu.I am running the demos/browser example.
Whenever I type anything from my laptop keyboard(tty) the characters appear on virtual console and not in browser window.
Also my moise os not working. It got recognized for pc, linuxtp during configuration.
Can someone please provide some pointers into these issues?

Is this an issue with the browser demo or Qt in general? If you run some of
the other Qt examples do they have the same issue?

Yes all the examples have same response.
If I run them as root, then I get the message
'Qtopia core data directory is not owned by user 0'

It's the problem with any application I try to run from examples, demos. I also tried setting the QWS_KEYBOARD=tty.
still did not work.
