FreeBSD
Message 1 in thread
Hi
As I'm sure you remember, I have managed to run Qt Jambi on FreeBSD using the
linux compatibility layer. Although getting it to work was very hard and
often resulted in crashing the VM, once it was working I hardly had any
problems.
I remember you saying something about supporting FreeBSD. As I am sure you
know FreeBSD has the ports collections which is an easy way to install 3rd
party programs. Qt 3.3 is in the ports collection but I have not noticed Qt
4.x. When I tried to compile Qt 4.1 on FreeBSD I ran into a bit problem with
the Makefiles not using the correct notation for BSDmake or GNUmake. A
simple python script was able to cure that problem. (And I'm willing to
assist in any way I can to help Trolltech make it work)
So, my question: Will Trolltech be supporting FreeBSD in regards to Qt and Qt
Jambi (and will this support extend to the ports collection)?
Thank you for the great products
David

Hi, David.
It is our intention to release Qt Jambi on all platforms that are both
supported by both Qt and Java 1.5+. Qt itself should work on FreeBSD.
However, there are the following notes to take into consideration on
that platform:
http://www.trolltech.com/developer/notes/platforms/freebsd
If none of these notes apply to you, and Qt still will not build on
FreeBSD, then I suggest you submit a bug report for Qt:
http://www.trolltech.com/bugreport-form
Hope this helps! :-)
