Qt 4.3 QMdi Suggestion

Message 1 in thread

To whom it may concern,

I like that you guys have implemented the QMdi feature and simplified the
usability of the old QWorkspace. I would like to make a suggestion though
for a feature.

It would be nice to have an optional (visible or invisible) MDI child list
in the form of a tabbed bar. This tabbed bar would have one tab for every
open MDI child and allow the user to activate (bring it to front ?
setFocus()) a hidden child by clicking on its respective tab. This tabbed
bar would be thin and take up only a minimal amount of space in the
QMdiArea. It would also be nice to set the location of the bar within the
QMdiArea via code (i.e. top, bottom, or sides). In this way, for example,
if a dock widget was located at the bottom of the workspace area, the tabbed
bar would sit above the dock widget. This feature would operate and look
very similar or the same as a group of stacked dock widgets (another feature
that I really like).

If any of you other users out there agree (or disagree) with this
suggestion, let it be heard. Also, don't be shy to add any other
comments/suggestions. You won't hurt my feelings. :)

Thank you,

Michael Booker
