Troubleshooting a gph / greenphone connection
Message 1 in thread
I have a greenphone (SDK 4.17) and a laptop with kubuntu Edgy installed.
Following the instructions I was able to successfully flash the phone with
the firmware from the CD.
However, I have never been able to connect to the greenphone from within
VMWARE player. gph -net always fails. Further, I often get duplex problems
in vmplayer with repeated key presses.
Are there any trouble shooting guides for connecting to the phone from
within the VMWARE player?
Isn't there a way for me to just skip the VMWARE player and get the SDK
installed onto my Kubuntu laptop?
Thanks,
Sean

I've got edgy at home, and found it's really sketchy with vmware in
general. Note, this is not official, and not supported, but will work:

I have found that I sometimes have to run
sudo dhclient
in the sdk to 'restart' networking, and then sometimes I have to reboot
the Greenphone to get vmware to see the GP usb device.
I have seen the 'duplex' keypress problem when vmware is still trying to
restore memory from a suspended machine. If I wait a minute of so until
it gets fully restored, it clears itself.
